Our guest is Laura Nelson (Northeastern University). She will be workshopping and discussing her latest project entitled, “And the Rest Is History.” Using the Alexander Street Press collection Women and Social Movements in the United States, a corpus of over 120,000 documents produced by women’s movements over a four-hundred-year time frame (1600 – 2000), and a contemporary snapshot of Wikipedia, the largest and most popular general reference work on the Internet, her paper examines what ideas promoted by historical women’s movements are present in contemporary reference work.
