Data are bigger, more complicated, and more readily available than ever before. Given data’s promise for yielding insight, knowing how to use data to ask and answer the right questions is a tremendously desirable skill. Our master’s degree will give you a competitive advantage in building a lifelong career in any field where data drive decisions.

STEM EDUCATION

The Master’s degree is designated as a STEM program by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and thus international degree-holders may qualify for the STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension for F-1 students.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications are due August 1st for fall admission and December 15th for spring. Scholarships are available. Apply by April 15th for full consideration. Applications are submitted online through the Queens College Office of Graduate Admissions.

Our ideal candidates already know they’re data geeks. If you loved your undergraduate statistics and research courses and earned grades of B+ or better, then this is definitely the program for you.

Our program prepares graduates for promising careers in a variety of fields or to pursue doctoral work in competitive PhD programs.

APPLIED SOCIAL RESEARCH

Our most popular track prepares generalists able to apply their data skills to any setting or problem.

DATA SCIENCE

With an added emphasis on Computer Science, this track weds data analytics and data engineering, this track prepares analysts who can program and programmers who can analyze.

MARKET RESEARCH

This track prepares professionals in cutting edge techniques of market and survey research.

MEDIA & MARKETING

With an added emphasis on Media Studies, this track combines data analytics with social media and advertising know-how, preparing media and marketing professionals who use data to give their campaigns an edge.

PROGRAM EVALUATION & POLICY ANALYSIS

With a current specialty in education policy and research, this track prepares graduates to work in think tanks, policy centers, non-profits, government agencies, and school systems.
